Job Description

Associate Attorneys participate in a full range of tasks that include attending client and expert meetings; conducting factual investigation, legal research and discovery; preparing briefs; engaging in oral advocacy and, on rare occasion, in trial work. Associates are assigned to specific cases, working in a supporting role to staff attorneys. In addition, associates handle screening of potential new cases. Occasionally, in the second or third year, s/he maybe given lead responsibility for a case co-counseled by a staff attorney. Salary: upper $50Ks; excellent benefits.

Required Qualifications

Requirements for the position are one or more years of civil litigation experience; admission to the California Bar; excellent written and oral advocacy skills; a solid academic record; a desire to learn and grow; a strong work ethic and sense of initiative; sound judgment; a good sense of humor; and an eagerness to make a difference for the environment and for clients. Term of position: two to three years, beginning in the summer of 2008.
