WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The U.S. Green Building Council is calling for experts in eco-friendly construction and design to serve as course reviewers for the organization's Education Provider Program.
The program provides continuing education and professional development to LEED accredited professionals, and the organization seeks 50 to 75 active reviewers to vet courses and content.
"Education is the cornerstone of USGBC's mission of transforming the building marketplace, and the Education Provider Program accelerates that mission by making top-quality courses that have been rigorously tested and reviewed available to the public," USGBC Senior Vice President of Research & Education Peter Templeton said in a statement. "An expanded reviewer base will help us more rapidly increase the number of courses in our catalog."
"We have over 100 courses currently in the pipeline and we're looking to have hundreds of courses to choose from," USGBC spokeswoman Ashley Katz told GreenerBuildings.
The Education Provider Program offers courses in several formats: in-person, live online and online 24/7. The courses are listed at the program's education portal, http://www.greenbuild365.org.
Like the instructors who teach the classes under review, course reviewers are expected to be professionals from the USGBC's member companies, chapters and affiliates who are knowledgeable in green building, sustainable design or instructional design.
For their service, reviewers receive training benefits that include instruction on the basics of adult education, the review process and the review criteria. Reviewers may use the information they receive in training to enhance their own course offerings, and they receive a free review of one of their own courses after completing 12 course reviews, the USGBC said.
