Green Energy Resources Eyes 1M Tons of Storm-Damaged Texas Wood
NEW YORK, N.Y. -- New York renewable energy company Green Energy Resources is working to obtain up to one million tons of hurricane-damaged forest wood from southeastern Texas.
The company said it is the first to work with a storm contractor to obtain waste wood under the Public Assistant Pilot Program that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency implemented this year. The collection and recycling of wood marks a change in what had been a dump-and-burn policy, said the firm, adding that it helped bring about the change.
Green Energy Resources is acquiring only damaged forestry products and not wood or debris from buildings. The company’s products include biomass, wood chips and sawdust.

This is great but...
...who IS collecting the wood and debris from the buildings? What is wrong with those items? They can be resued too! Please don't tell me these items go into landfills - my head would surely explode.
Too many contaminants in
Too many contaminants in urban wood waste. Very costly to seperate out for what is considered a low value product. Metals and other contaminants can play havoc in wood pellet plants and biomass combustion facilities.
