Even the most accomplished building design professionals could use a little help identifying the best energy-efficiency strategies for a given project. This software package -- an energy modeling tool for smaller, two-thermal zone buildings -- helps architects and building designers quickly identify the most cost-effective, energy-saving measures for small commercial and residential buildings.

Version 1.8, released in March 2006, offers two tools to help users integrate solar features into energy-efficient building design:
  • A photovoltaic module that provides the ability to model and simulate the performance of a PV system that is either stand-alone or integrated with the building
  • A Solar Domestic Hot Water module that provides solar domestic/service hot water modeling capability
Version 1.8 also includes a library ("ASHRAELIB") that defines constructions (wall, roof, window, etc.) as spelled out in ASHRAE 90.1-2004.Energy-10 is one of the energy analysis tools approved under the U.S. Green Building Council's LEED program. The software's "daylighting" and "total building energy use" performance reports can help facilitate the LEED submission process.
