In "Quantifying Sustainability," the American Institute of Architects explains its sustainability position statement and 16-point criteria for ratings systems. It then sees how the three major U.S. green building ratings systems mesh with its criteria.

The study looks at LEED-New Construction 2.2, Green Globes for New Construction and SBTool 07 and compares them point-by-point with what the AIA says a ratings system should include.
